How to resize a photo for Instagram without cropping
Open Pixly's free Resize for Instagram in your browser, add the photo, pick the size — Portrait post is 1080 × 1350 — and choose Fit + blur under How to fit. The whole photo stays in the frame and the space around it is filled with a soft blurred copy. Click Resize photos and download. Free, no account.

The three steps
- 01
Add your photo
Go to pixly.app/tools/resize-photo-for-instagram and drop one photo or many, or click Choose photos.
- 02
Pick the size and how to fit
Under Size, pick Portrait post, Square post or Story / Reel. Under How to fit, Fit + blur keeps the whole photo and fills the rest with a blurred copy; Fit + white fills it with white; Crop trims the photo to the shape — drag it to choose what stays.
- 03
Resize and download
Click Resize photos. The photo downloads at exactly that size, with location and camera data removed.

Which size to pick
- Portrait post (4:5) takes the most space in the feed.
- Story / Reel (9:16) for Stories and Reels.
- Fit + blur for wide room photos; Crop when the subject is in the middle.
- Add several photos to resize a whole carousel the same way.
What to avoid
- Letting Instagram crop a wide photo for you — it cuts the sides.
- Stretching a photo to fit: it distorts the room.
- Tiny originals: resizing up cannot add detail.
