3 steps

The three steps

  1. 01

    Add your two photos

Go to pixly.app/tools/before-after-photo-maker and drop one photo on Before and one on After. Swap photos if they are the wrong way round.

  2. 02

    Pick a layout

By default the two photos share one picture with a split line — drag it to show more of either. Or choose Side by side or Stacked under Layout for two whole photos. Format sets the shape: 1:1 and 4:5 for Instagram, 9:16 for Stories and Reels.

  3. 03

    Download the picture

Click Download image (JPG). Switch to Video to turn the same two photos into a short wipe or slider clip instead.

Tips for a convincing before and after

  • Shoot both photos from the same spot and height, so only the room changes.
  • Same time of day and the same lights on, if you can.
  • Keep Show labels on — viewers should not have to guess which is which.
  • No after photo yet? Virtual staging can furnish the empty room for you.

What to avoid

  • Two photos from different angles: the comparison stops being fair.
  • Cropping one photo tighter than the other.
  • Presenting an AI-staged after as a real renovation — say it is a visualisation.
