Which photos work best

Works best

Exterior shots with at least a strip of sky at the top of the frame.
Grey, white or blown-out skies. The duller the sky, the bigger the difference.
Interiors with a view through windows or glass doors work too.

Avoid

Photos with no sky anywhere. They are refused and you are not charged.
Dusk or night shots. For evening light, use Day to Dusk.

Stays the same

The house, roof, lawn and camera angle keep their exposure and colour. Only the sky and its reflections change.

What is sky replacement for real estate photos?

Swapping the sky in an exterior listing photo for a better one, without changing the property. Grey or overcast days are the usual reason. Pixly does it in a minute or two for 1 credit and keeps the house, trees and reflections as shot.

Does it change the house or the lighting?

No. The building, the ground and the plants keep their exposure and colour. Only the sky and the surfaces that reflect it change. If you want the house relit for evening, that is Day to Dusk.

Do I need to disclose a sky-replaced photo on the MLS?

Treat it like any digitally edited listing photo. Most boards allow it when you label the image, for example “sky replaced” or “digitally enhanced”. The property itself is unchanged.

What if I don't like the sky it chose?

Pick one of the six skies instead of Auto and run it again. Clear blue, Light clouds, Dramatic clouds, Sunset, Pastel sunrise and Winter clear cover most listings; each run is 1 credit.

Can I control where the sun is?

Yes. Set Sun visible to On and drag the marker on your photo. The sun appears the way it naturally would in the chosen sky, and if the shadows in the photo say the light comes from elsewhere, it stays soft so nothing contradicts.
