How to make a floor plan of your house
Open Pixly's free Floor Plan Creator in your browser, click Start from scratch, and add each room with Quick rectangle: pick the room type, type its width and depth, and it lines up against the last one. Add a Door and a Window by clicking a wall, then click Download PNG — a clean plan with every room's area. Free, nothing to install; the download needs a free account.

The five steps
- 01
Open Floor Plan Creator
Go to pixly.app/tools/floor-plan-creator and click Start from scratch. It runs in the browser — nothing to install.
- 02
Add the first room
Click Quick rectangle, choose the Room type (for example Living room), type the width and depth in metres or feet, and click Add room.
- 03
Add the next rooms
Do the same for each room. A new room is placed against the last one, so the walls meet — drag it into place if your layout differs.
- 04
Add doors and windows
Pick Door or Window and click the wall where it goes. Drag it along the wall to move it.
- 05
Download the plan
Click Download PNG: the plan with each room's area and measurements. The download needs a free account; it costs nothing.

Tips for an accurate plan
- Measure each room wall to wall before you start — a tape or a laser measure is enough.
- Start with the largest room, then add the rooms around it.
- Have an iPhone? Scan with iPhone in the Pixly app measures the rooms for you.
- Already have a sketch? From a photo of a plan turns a photo of it into an editable plan.
What to avoid
- Guessing sizes — a plan with wrong areas misleads buyers.
- Forgetting wall thickness: rooms are measured inside the walls.
- Using it as a building drawing — it's a plan for listings and planning.
