How to draw property lines on a photo

Open Pixly's free Property Line & Boundary Tool in your browser, add an aerial or drone photo, and click each corner of the lot — the boundary is drawn as you click. Switch on a label for the lot size or price under Label, then click Download PNG. Free, no account — drawing and the PNG download happen in your browser.

The four steps

  1. 01

    Add an aerial photo

Go to pixly.app/tools/property-lines and drop the photo on the page, or click Choose photo. A drone shot or any photo from above works best.

  2. 02

Click the corners of the lot

Click each corner in turn; the boundary closes by itself after the third. Drag a corner to fine-tune it.

  3. 03

    Add a label (optional)

Under Label, switch the label on and type the Caption and Value — the lot size or the price. Under Style you can change the colour, width and glow of the line.

  4. 04

    Download the photo

Under Export, click Download PNG for a full-size PNG. Export animated video makes a clip where the line draws itself; that needs a free account.

Tips for a clean boundary

  • Use a photo taken from above, with the whole lot in the frame.
  • Follow fences, hedges or the survey map for the corners.
  • Add a Line for an access road or a Marker for a feature — each is its own layer.
  • Have drone video instead? The drone tool keeps the lines on the lot as the camera moves.

What to avoid

  • Presenting the lines as a legal survey — they are drawn by you and are illustrative.
  • Tracing over trees or shadows that hide the real corner.
  • Ground-level photos: a boundary reads best from above.
